Bernie the cat loved to explore. She wandered through the woods, over hills and valleys, and along the winding river. One day, as she was crossing a rickety old bridge, she heard a loud creaking sound. Suddenly, the bridge collapsed, and Bernie found herself stranded on the other side.
She meowed for help, but no one came. As the sun began to set, Bernie realized that spending the night in the woods was inevitable. She curled up in a ball and tried to stay warm.
But as the night wore on, Bernie grew more and more frightened. She heard strange noises and imagined all sorts of scary creatures lurking in the darkness. She wished she could be back home, safe and sound.
The next morning, a kind hiker found Bernie and took her back to her owner. From that day on, Bernie never ventured too far from home. She learned that while adventure was fun, sometimes the inevitable dangers of the unknown were not worth the risk.
