Abstain

Once upon a time, in a charming little village, there lived a mischievous cat named Bernie. Bernie was known for his adventurous spirit and his love for exploring every nook and cranny of the town. One sunny morning, Bernie woke up with an unusual feeling. He decided to embark on a new adventure, but this time with a twist. He made a vow to abstain from his mischievous behavior for an entire day. As Bernie strolled through the village, his friends, the birds, noticed his unusual behavior. They chirped in astonishment, "Bernie, what's gotten into you today? You're not causing any trouble!" Bernie proudly replied, "Yes, my dear feathered friends, today I am abstaining from my mischievous ways. I want to prove to everyone that I can be a well-behaved cat." Throughout the day, Bernie resisted the temptation to chase butterflies, playfully knock over flowerpots, or climb up trees to tease the squirrels. His friends, the mice, were amazed at Bernie's newfound self-control. They squeaked in admiration, "Bernie, you're truly a changed cat! We've never seen you abstain from your mischievous antics before!" As the day came to an end, Bernie felt a sense of accomplishment. He had successfully abstained from his mischievous behavior and proved to himself and everyone else that he was capable of self-restraint. From that day forward, Bernie's friends admired him for his ability to abstain from trouble-making, and he became a role model for all the cats in the village. And so, Bernie's adventure taught him the power of self-control and the rewards that come with choosing to abstain from mischief.
